The living water is the Holy Spirit, the ECK. This water flows throughout life—in your life, my life, your neighbor’s life, your loved one’s life—constantly. But you’re a cup. And what sort of cup you are—whether of gold or of wood—will affect the gifts that then go back to the world. Whether you teach someone to sing HU, give them a book, do a kindness, or just listen, by your loving service you help that Soul see the Mahanta lighting the way home. There’s the story of Niki, who gave a woman a bottle of cool water for her infant. Niki had a favor returned to her a month later when she was in need. Or the person from Ghana I’ll call Dale. Her landlady would lock her out of the house. One morning the landlady burned leaves under Dale’s window, adding some wet leaves for extra smoke. But when Dale was tempted to get upset, she turned to the Mahanta during a spiritual exercise and received the answer, “Do all you have agreed to do.” She remembered a promise she had made to herself to treat her new place the same as she would her father’s house. So Dale started doing yard work her landlady wouldn’t do herself. Her actions opened the heart of the mean-spirited woman. In fact, the father of a friend told her that the entire neighborhood had changed since she moved in. Dale learned three important lessons. Number one: Learn to do selfless acts. Two: Keep your promises no matter how small. And number three: Always rely on your true inner voice. This talk offers a variation on a spiritual exercise Sri Harold gave last year. And he also mentions a book which offers many insights on how to improve your physical health by knowing your body’s need for water. (CD) Track Titles: - Welcome to the 1998 ECK Springtime Seminar
